Tips On How to Maintain Good Eyesight

May is Healthy Vision Month, established by the National Eye Institute to boost awareness about eye health and undetected vision problems. Follow these tips to sharpen your own vision so you can see your way to a future of longevity.
The eyes are considered as the windows of our soul. It is one of the most important parts of our body.  Without our eyes, we cannot see the beauty of God’s creation. That is why it is important that we know how to take care of our eyes. Below are some of the simple tips that will sharpen our vision in longevity.
1.      Eat for bright eyesight
Our eyes will function well through the food that we eat. It needs multiple food nutrients to function clearly. Consider the following foods.
a.       Vitamin A, C, E and minerals like copper and zinc. They are the most essential vitamins to maintain good eyesight.
b.      Antioxidants which includes beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin. They will help protect the macula from sun damage.  Dark and leafy green vegetables, egg yuolks, yellow peppers, pumpkins, sweet potatoes and carrots are good source of antioxidants.
c.       Foods rich in sulfur, cysteine and lecithin are responsible for the protection of the lens of our eye from cataract formation. Garlic, onions, shallots and capers are excellent source of sulfur.
d.      Our eyes also need DHA, it is a fatty acid formula found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines, mackerel and cod. DHA provides structural support to cell membranes in order to boost eye sight.
e.       Drinking 8 glasses of water a day helps prevent dehydration and dryness of our eyes thus, it helps lubricate our eyes.
2.      Exercise your eyes
Just like our body, our eyes also need some exercises. These exercises are so simple and it can be done first thing in the morning, before bedtime or any time whenever your eyes feel fatigued. In this exercise, we should use our hands, just be sure that they are clean and you are in a relax mood. Performing this in a daily basis will improve your eye sight in just a month.
a.       Warm your eyes. If you want to warmth your eyes, just rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times.
b.      Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise.
c.       Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about six inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all.
d.      Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose.
e. Take a mini-nap. Our eyes need rest from a whole day use, that is why even a short time, you need to close it in order to relax.  Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for three minutes.
3. Limit Environmental Toxins
External factors can contribute to eye damage and will result to poor eye sight even at the younger age. We should be aware that the following habits that we are doing can eventually contribute to eye damage. These include fluorescent lights, computer screens, environmental allergens, chlorine in swimming pools, air conditioning and heating, reading in dim lighting, and constant rubbing of the eyes. Do not smoke and limit your exposure to cigarette smoke as it may increase optic pressure. Remember to wear sunglasses to protect your precious eyes from UV exposure.
4. R & R for your eyes
Getting enough sleep is essential for eye health. Sleep time allows your eyes to fully rest, repair, and recover. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so aim for eight hours sound sleep every night. Give your eyes a break once an hour during your workday: rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids.

Health Revealation Through Our Hands

Our body will send signs and symptoms when something’s wrong with our health. Most common is fever, runny nose, and cough.  But sometimes the signs can be misleading to the true condition of our body. Don’t you know that through our hands we can predict how healthy we are in the future? For instance, the length of our fingers, the state of our nails and the shade of our palms has something to say to the state of our health. Check out below if you have the following descriptions of your hands, so you can have the time to visit to your doctor.
1.       Swollen Fingers
What does it mean? It is known that salty foods and PMS can cause bloat. But if you ignore the shaker and still your rings don’t fit and your period isn’t due soon, this kind of swelling could suggest “hypothyroidism” which means the thyroid gland is under producing the hormones you need to regulate the metabolism in keeping the body to function properly. Thyroid problems can lead to sluggish metabolism, weight gain and water accumulation. If untreated, it can cause fatigue, low libido and heart failure. So, if you have seen your fingers like these you better consult your doctor to prevent the disease to a serious one.
2. Red Palms.
What does it mean? Itchy and burning red palms may suggest that you have eczema. It is a chronic skin disorder that can worsen especially when you’re stressed. To prevent or limit the irritation, avoid using or touching chemicals that will trigger the irritation. Instead try using a soapless cleansers and by wearing gloves when washing or cleaning. Redness on palms also indicate an allergy to nickel in jewelry, chemicals in products or if you’re taking antibiotics. If you still experiencing the redness on your palms despite of the remedies you’ve taken, it is now best to consult a doctor for proper treatment and prevention.
3.       Pale Finger
Naturally, nails should turn white when you press them but will return to pinkish when you release them.  But if your nails stay white after releasing for more than a minute, it indicate that you may have anemia or low iron. Iron deficiency can lead to fatigue and heart problems. To avid such problem, you need to eat foods rich in iron such as lean meat, spinach, dark green leafy vegetables, legumes, nuts and foods rich in vitamin C.
4.       Numb and Blue Fingers
Blue-hued fingers may indicate a state called Raynaud’s disease, wherein a temporary blood vessel spasm that constricts the blood flows to the fingers which causes the numbness. It is more common in women and usually occurred and triggered in a cool temperature or stress. It is considered a chronic disease but it’s not a huge health worry unless numbness will last for more than an hour. If it happened, immediately go to your doctor for proper treatment. This can be avoided by cutting out cigarettes and go easy on caffeine, both will constrict blood vessels. Exercise regularly, it will keep the blood pumping.

5. Discolored Nails
Off-color nails can result from fungus but can be also a warning sign for diabetes. You better check your blood sugar or change your food habits such as swapping out processed foods for a healthy complex carbs. But if nail discoloration is caused from a nail polish, try applying a tooth whitening product to the discolored nails.

How To Dress Gorgeously

It is important that we know how to choose the dress that will enhance our physical outlook. It doesn’t matter whether if it is new or old but it is the creativity to combine colors and designs that will fit the size of the body. Sometimes I experienced spending so much time in front of the mirror just to see if the clothes I wear give me a beautiful look. That is why the following ideas must be considered in choosing the kind of clothes to wear.
1. Skinny jeans for skinny girls. In reality, it is all about proportion, fit and styling. To look sexier, try this in combo. Pair skinny jeans with a black t-shirt, layer on a drapey vest and add a long statement necklace that draws the eye to down towards your waist. To elongate your legs and for a sexier result, wear high heel shoes.
2. Avoid form-fitting clothes. Covering yourself up can actually look much larger than you are. Therefore, do not hide your body. Instead embrace your shape by giving emphasis to the most flattering aspects of your body. A form-fitting dress in a bright color with a deep v-neck accents slim waist and wear great pair of earrings and heels will polish your look.
3. Avoid prints and patterns. Most of us are so creative that we mix printed clothes that will go with the trends. Plus-sized ladies can look great by wearing their prints in the same color range. For example, if you’re floral skirt is navy and green, try a navy and white striped top. Yes a striped top! You can wear it as long as you keep the color range in mind.
4. Only wear monochromatic looks. Personally, I wear black color clothes in order to look slimmer. But for us to know, bright colors also do the same if they are worn correctly. It is called color-blocking. It is mixing bright solid colors. Curvy ladies should pick two colors that will give them a slimmer look.
5. Stay clear of pencil skirts. Definitely, pencil skirts can be sophisticated and slimming if you pair them with a great belt (try a bright color for a little flair), a tucked in blouse and a high heel shoes.

It is not necessary that we buy expensive clothes in order to look beautiful but even the cheap one can give a gorgeous look if we know how to combine colors and designs that will fit to our body.

A Mother Is....

A mother is someone to shelter and guide us,
To love us, whatever we do,
With a warm understanding and infinite patience
And wonderful gentleness, too.
How often a mother means swift reassurance
In soothing our small, childish fears,
How tenderly mothers watch over their children
And treasure them all through the years!
The heart of a mother is full of forgiveness
For any mistake, big or small,
And generous always in helping her family,
Whose needs she has placed above all.
A mother can utter a word of compassion
And make all our cares fall away,
She can brighten a home with the sound of her laughter
And make life delightful and gay.
A mother possesses incredible wisdom
And wonderful insight and skill -
In each human heart is that one special corner
Which only a mother can fill!

What's The Best Shoes For Your Body Type?

Some of us focus on clothes in order to fix our common body hang-ups, but we tend to forget that shoes help show off the favorite parts of our body. The shoes that we wear will add emphasis to our posture and adds glamour to our look. That is why it is important to choose the best shoes to our feet. But there are problems when it comes to choosing particular shoes.
Problem 1: Small and petite

If your legs are on the shorter and slimmer side, you usually would want to add height to your frame. Think platforms, wedges and heels without straps. Straps would almost cut your leg off in two, making you look even smaller. Make sure there's nothing in the line of vision between your heel and the rest of your leg. If you want to wear flats shoes, make sure you're wearing a dress that falls above your knee - anything below it will make you look even tinier.
Problem 2: Short and thick

Try a simple pair of heels with a bright pop of color or a unique print so attention gets drawn away from your short legs. Some other flattering choices are open-toed shoes with a solid heel and boots that end just below the knee, not mid-calf. Since your legs tend to be on the thicker side, stay away from gladiator flats or any other shoe style that wraps around your ankle. On that note, it's best to avoid flats as well, because they can make your legs look shorter and thicker.

Problem 3: Tall and thin

Being tall and thin is almost never a problem. Show off your model like physique with a pair of sandals with an ankle strap (it will also give some edge to your feet) especially if you have thin ankles. Flats sandals are great for you because of the height advantage. Butt stay away from chunky heels and platforms because they may overwhelm your ankles.

Problem 4: Muscular legs

We feel awkward when we have muscular legs, but the truth is - toned legs are all kinds of sexy. To elongate the leg, choose a super high heel - in particular, pointy, open-toed shoes and stilettos that will make your legs look leaner. Avoid rounded toe pumps, small squared heels and delicate styles like ballet flats or kitten heels because they can add weight to your legs and make them look heavier.
